Before this class, I had vaguely heard of MetCon and knew it was hard, but didn’t really understand what it was or what it entailed. After this class, I can safely say it is killer but oh so good!
The set-up of the workout is 10 exercises which you do for 1 minute each, without a break. There is one minute break between each circuit of the exercises, and you repeat it 3 times. Exercises included deadlift burpees (I weirdly love these and am gonna keep doing them) and dumbbell flyes.
It only took a couple of minutes for me to be sweating profusely and panting, but it felt oh so good when I completed the first circuit. By the third one, I wasn’t sure if I could make it, but I powered through and was so proud of myself afterwards!
I personally prefer to weight train regularly, so the fact that this workout incorporated weights, which you could tailor to your fitness/strength level, was something I really appreciate and rate in a workout class. This also means you can make it burn if you’re looking to really challenge yourself.
Simi was the PT leading my class and she was so incredibly encouraging and uplifting and somehow managed to mention my name to keep me going whenever I was on the verge of giving up. She ensured everyone’s form was correct and wasn’t afraid to help you out, which I really rate. Her music taste also gets you buzzing!
KXU in general is one of the most gorgeous and fancy gyms I have been to – their menu looked delicious and I’m definitely going to go back to try some of the items out! The changing rooms are also dreamy and they provide towels (win!).
Have you been to KXU yet? What did you think?
