I am usually a sweet snack person, however occasions certainly arise when I find myself craving something more crunchy and savoury. I have compiled my top five savoury snacks, for when you want to save that chocolate hit for a little later in the day.
These are perfect little snack packs for when you want something salty and crunchy that isn’t super high-calorie. They are roasted corn kernels and come in different flavours – my personal pick is the sea salt one, but I am definitely partial to sea salted crisps over more adventurous flavours.
These are fab packs of dried vegetables, whether it be beetroot, butternut squash or spinach and coconut. I am a beetroot fan so that is my favourite, however they are all fab and have really good ingredients. The packets are the perfect size to pop in your handbag in case you feel the need for something while you’re on the go.
These have been a saving grace for me while studying in Spain, as health foods are not as readily available here. They are significantly cheaper here than in the UK, where I do think the pricing is a tad steep for dehydrated courgette. However, that is literally all it is – courgette, with no added ingredients. So if you don’t have time to dehydrate your own courgette (if you do, I salute you), these snack packs are a really great savoury pick.
I’m not normally a fan of cheesy-flavoured crisps, however these are delicious to me for some reason! My cousin is also a huge fan of them. What’s amazing is they even contain 40% less fat than other crisp packets! The tortilla chips are also incredibly moreish.
Hippeas are not new to the health food game – they’re actually quite institutional in my opinion. They taste surprisingly good – I love the mixed herbs flavour – and are totally made out of chickpeas!
These were the first ‘healthy crisps’ I’ve ever tried, and they opened my eyes to the idea. These come in so many different flavours and I think they’ve just come out with a sweet potato one which I have yet to try but am very keen to. My current personal favourite is the Sweet Potato, Carrot and Beetroot mixed pack, which can be found in airports (lifesaver!).
