Angelica Leeds: Great-Value Food In Swanky Setting

I had wanted to give Angelica a try since coming across it when researching the best restaurants in Leeds. I decided to book their Sunday brunch – the ambiance is set perfectly with a live DJ, while the conservatory-esque feel lifts spirits and, despite the dreary day, felt bright and airy.

I was intrigued by the fact they are part of the D&D Group, joining the likes of the institutional Bluebird Café in Chelsea, London. However, this menu was surprisingly decent value given the swishy-feeling decor, and the portions are generous. Another major bonus was the incredible service – the waiters were wonderfully friendly without being overbearing, and were incredibly attentive.

I went for the poached eggs with halloumi and avocado and was served a pleasingly generous-sized portion of halloumi (so extra points for that, in my book). I would also recommend the hot chocolate – so warming and rich, but not overwhelmingly so.

Halloumi and avocado with poached eggs on toast, with the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel in the background.

I will definitely be returning as soon as I can to try the all-day menu!
